Family: Salicaceae
Origin: Albania/Bulgaria/Croatia

Overview:

White Willow Bark is a classic botanical renowned for its natural ability to support comfort, circulation, and a balanced inflammatory response.* Known as “nature’s aspirin,” this ancient herb has been treasured for thousands of years for its soothing and grounding properties.

Our organic white willow bark is sustainably harvested, dried, and cut into uniform pieces to preserve its natural salicin content the plant compound that inspired modern aspirin. With a mildly bitter, earthy taste, it’s ideal for teas, tinctures, and herbal formulations that promote ease and balance.

Historical & Cultural Background:

Used since ancient times, White Willow Bark was revered by the Egyptians, Greeks, and Indigenous peoples of North America for its comforting and cooling effects. In the 19th century, European scientists isolated salicin, the compound responsible for many of willow’s beneficial properties, laying the groundwork for the development of aspirin. Herbalists still value the bark as a gentle, whole-plant alternative that supports comfort without harsh synthetic processing.
